Richard Justice is a 1976 graduate of the University of Texas. He’s a native of Waxahachie, Texas, and has worked at newspapers in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Chicago and Baltimore. He spent 14 years at The Washington Post before joining the Houston Chronicle as a general assignments reporter in July, 2000. He was named lead sports columnist of the Chronicle in March 2004. During 32 years in the business, he has covered three NBA teams (Mavericks, Bulls, Wizards), two NFL teams (Redskins, Cowboys) and one MLB team (Orioles). He has covered a dozen Super Bowls, 14 World Series and five NBA finals. He and his wife, Marty, have been married for 20 years and and are the parents of two daughters, one a 20-year-old junior at the University of Texas, the other a sophomore in high school.
